As a Senior Systems Administrator at Recursion, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our IT infrastructure and applications run seamlessly across cloud and on-premises environments. You will take ownership of the day-to-day operations, administration, and maintenance of systems including physical and virtual servers, endpoints, cloud platforms, and network infrastructure. Your role will directly support Recursion's mission to decode biology by enabling cutting-edge research and innovation through reliable IT services. From ensuring operational excellence in systems performance to driving proactive solutions for security and compliance, you’ll play a key role in empowering teams across the company to achieve their goals.

In this role, you will:

• Systems Administration: Manage, maintain, and optimize IT and cloud infrastructure, including servers, endpoints (Windows, macOS, mobile devices), storage solutions, and collaboration tools (e.g., Box, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Cloud/Sharepoint).
• Application Support: Oversee and troubleshoot SaaS applications, monitoring tools, security solutions, and enterprise collaboration platforms to ensure uptime and performance.
• Audio Visual: Ensure reliable AV system performance across meeting spaces and lead setup for high-profile events, addressing issues and coordinating upgrades as needed.
• Network Administration: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and access points, for both on-premise and cloud environments.
• Security Posture: Monitor and enhance the security posture of critical infrastructure across cloud and on-premises systems, proactively addressing vulnerabilities.
• Process Automation: Automate repetitive processes using industry-standard tools and scripting languages to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with IT Engineers to operationalize new solutions, create detailed runbooks, and ensure operational monitoring tools are effectively configured.
• Mentorship and Leadership: Share your expertise to mentor team members, enhance their technical capabilities, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
• On-call Support: Provide on-call services to ensure timely responses to critical IT issues.

From managing complex cloud platforms to delivering resilient on-premises solutions, the IT team thrives on solving challenges and fostering a supportive, inclusive culture.

The Experience You’ll Need:

• 7+ years of progressive systems administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Expertise in Windows systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and associated Windows services.
• Proficiency in automating processes using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) or automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of networking, including experience with firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
• Experience managing AV systems and supporting large-scale corporate events, including setup, troubleshooting, and ensuring seamless operations.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with storage solutions and protocols like SMB and NFS.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and resolve them effectively.
• Experience managing security and compliance across IT environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:

• Developing: $119,000
• Skilled: $131,000
• Expert: $145,000
