What You’ll Do    

As a Silicon Labs Intern working as a CAD Engineer, you will help develop the industry’s leading products in IoT while being mentored and closely guided by the best engineers with a vested interest in your success. Our intern projects are designed to help you to grow your skill set while making meaningful contributions to our business. Here are some of the challenges you might get to tackle:    

  • Schematics, engineering diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts and develop scripts and methodologies to assist analog and digital flows  
  • Lead technical experiments that perform root cause analysis on technical problems. Using this research, you will summarize your data and devise, fabricate, and draft solutions. Then you will share presentation and report of your findings
  • Develop, qualify, and support standard analog and digital implementation methodology and flows, including schematic generation, layout generation, physical verification, simulation and data analytics.

You will need a combination of some (not all) of the qualifications listed below:

  • Completion of 2+ years of study   
  • Enrollment in MS/PhD Computer or Electrical Engineering degree plan 
  • Skills: Cadence, Virtuoso, Verilog, QRC, Calibre, Python, Perl, TCL, Shell, Make and SKILL 
  • Coursework, projects, and/or internship experience: VLSI design, transistor theory, CMOS fabrication processes, DFM, analog design, routing and analysis, timing and power optimization, design for yield optimization, parasitic extraction, signal integrity analysis and physical verification, IoT, SoC, MCUs, Semiconductors
  • Extracurricular activities within organizations a plus 

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $79,040 ($38/HR) to $91,520 ($44/HR) USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.  Other components may include a sign on bonus.
