The Opportunity:

Join KBR as a Systems Engineer and contribute to a complex, mission-critical program delivering secure, integrated capabilities to Defence. Working across cybersecurity, networks, software and infrastructure domains, you’ll support the full systems engineering lifecycle – from requirements and architecture through to integration, verification and certification. This is an opportunity to solve complex system-level challenges, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to high-impact Defence programs.

This is an expression of interest for full-time opportunities based in Canberra or Brisbane.

The successful candidate must hold a NV1 security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply systems engineering practices across complex IT and mission system environments.
  • Develop, manage and maintain requirements, architecture and traceability throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with software, cyber, network and test teams to achieve successful integration outcomes.
  • Support verification, validation and test activities to ensure system performance, security and compliance.
  • Contribute to technical reviews, trade studies and engineering decision-making.
  • Support system certification, safety and airworthiness activities where required.
  • Identify and resolve cross-domain integration issues, risks and technical challenges.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools and standards.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Experience applying systems engineering practices to complex IT, Defence or mission systems.
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines and integrate technical outcomes.
  • Experience developing engineering artefacts including requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), test plans and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear recommendations and decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Current NV1 Security Clearance and eligibility to access ITAR-controlled technology.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Defence, aerospace or other regulated environments.
  • Exposure to software development, systems integration or verification environments.
  • Knowledge of satellite communications or secure network technologies.
  • Experience working within ASDEFCON frameworks.
  • Chartered status or working towards CPEng/RPEQ.
