Position Summary
The Senior Data and Reporting Analyst supports University Advancement (UA) at Washington University in St. Louis in the design and use of constituent data. Produces timely and accurate reports, queries, and other desired outputs to support fundraising efforts for the University. Works with UA staff to coordinate data projects and deliverables related to data analysis, reporting and dashboard development. Gain proficient knowledge of advancement data and how it can support University fundraising efforts. This position reports to the Manager of Data and Reporting in Business Intelligence.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce accurate data outputs from University Advancement’s CRM.
- Review and evaluate user requirements to produce and create ad-hoc standardized outputs as requested and approved by the Executive Director of Data & Analytics or Manager of Data and Reporting.
- Conduct analysis on data and assist in the development of reports and dashboards for University Advancement.
- Design and develop data-delivery solutions including:
- Standardized query reports and outputs.
- Ad-hoc development of query reports and outputs.
- Query templates.
- Dashboard and data visualizations.
- Support ongoing data management and data hygiene of the University Advancement CRM.
- Assist with data audit of CRM to document database objects and field properties plus identify data cleanup needed.
- Map, cleanse, and validate data migrations.
- Contribute to data governance and data quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in other University and department-wide IT and data related projects as needed.
- Provide support for planning, design and implementation of any Advancement data warehouse and operational reporting environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two to three years of programming and business analysis experience including two years of experience with SQL.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce or other fundraising and relationship management platforms.
- Prior experience working in a nonprofit environment and/or higher education technology environment.
- Experience manipulating and analyzing large, complex data sets related to advancement/development programs.
- Prior experience with data migration and data quality efforts.
- Experience with reporting and data visualization tools, including Cognos, CRM Analytics and/or Tableau.
- Experience with collaborative coding and using tools such as GitHub.
- Familiarity with MS SharePoint.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to think strategically, set priorities, plan, and implement effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Highly motivated, organized, proactive and collaborative.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze significant amounts of information with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of data analytics and higher education to support data driven improvement efforts.
- Demonstrated success as a team member able to work effectively within a complex organization across multiple units dealing with diverse constituents toward development objectives.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service orientation.
- Ability to learn and grow in the position.
- Commitment to the mission of higher education and Washington University in St. Louis.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience or equivalent education/work experience to equal seven years.

Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
