Location: This role is hybrid and will be based in both our Chicago Loop and Elmhurst offices, with a target of 3-4 in-office days per week.

About the role:

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to support our Accounting team. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, and interfacing with external audits. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional development. Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management and external stakeholders.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations. Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Operational Accounting: Manage and oversee key aspects of operational accounting, including inventory accounting, cost analysis, and financial reporting related to operational activities. Ensure accuracy in operational expense reporting and cost management.
  • FP&A Collaboration: Work closely with the FP&A team to support financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. Provide necessary financial data and insights to aid in budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic decision-making.
  • Finance Tech Stack Support: Collaborate with IT and finance teams to support and optimize the finance tech stack, including accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools. Ensure that financial systems are functioning effectively and meet the needs of the accounting and finance departments.
  • Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets. Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Audit: Assist in the coordination and execution of internal and external audits. Prepare audit documentation and respond to auditor inquiries. Ensure all audit recommendations are implemented effectively.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
  • Special Projects: Assist in various financial projects and initiatives, including system implementations, process optimizations, and strategic financial planning.
