As a Presales manager, you will lead and develop a team of passionate and ambitious Solution Consultants to prepare and deliver demonstrations of critical business solutions that empower our sales teams to succeed. Your team will look to you for support and guidance through every step of the sales process. As a key member of the Presales Leadership team, you will be responsible for supporting a winning strategy to best position Workday in net new or add on sales cycles. You will be responsible for hiring the best and brightest and helping them achieve success in their role and career. This is a first-line people leader combining individual contributor role with opportunity for career growth and personal development of leadership skills. The role is in a very fast paced and dynamic environment where it is more than just about efficient and effective management but about being a strategic, forward thinking leader.
About the Role
Serve as a playing manager during our fast-growing phase, combining people leadership with direct, hands-on contribution as a Solution Consultant until the team scale.
- Lead an extraordinary team passionate about delivering outstanding, differentiated value proposition. Partner with Sales and Sales leaders to help your team evaluate and develop sales strategies for each new opportunity that meet and exceed prospect and customer expectations and requirements.
- Deliver engaging and visionary presentations and demonstrations backed by ERP expertise, mapping customer business transformation journeys and articulating the value of Workday solutions through deep discovery of their goals, needs, and challenges.
- Responsible for aligning across Industry focused sales teams in Japan driving the POV, solution messaging, and C-suite and stakeholder management.
- Lead with AI and ability to infuse it into all aspects of the role. Be at the forefront of leveraging and driving adoption of creative and scalable approaches to selling.
- Establishing a strong collaborative partnership among Japan leadership team, the Presales team and the Sales organization as well as extended Japan team.
- Develop a presales business plan (resources, skills, processes, etc.) aligned with Japan GTM plan and productivity objectives.
- Plan and drive partner business support and enablement for Workday Financials including Adaptive Planning.
- Hire and retain top performers. Build development plans for team members to ensure successful onboarding and continuing education of the team. Coach the team to elevate individual and team performance, including performance management review.
- Be a technical focal point of Workday Financials solutions including Adaptive Planning in Japan, and a representative to Corporate Leadership and Product & Technology, including the influencing on product roadmap and feature enhancement.
- Provide strategic feedback to stakeholders and extended team about Workday emerging technologies and sales/business processes. Build and establish an appropriate process, if necessary.
- Keep up with industry and technology trends and methodologies including new technologies at Workday and how these apply in the focus Industry and Sub-Industry verticals.
- Foster an environment of collaboration and development specific to the knowledge in the Japan. Proactively collaborate to share the standard processes and knowledge among global teams.
- Provide marketing support for seminars, trade shows, and webinars.
About You
- Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years in a presales-related role (sales, presales, consulting, value management, customer success, etc.) selling enterprise software
- 5+ years of Solution Consulting / sales management experience. Leadership, drive for results and “can do” attitude.
- Key Qualifications:
- Experience in people management, performance management, sales and Solution Consulting processes, complex sales management and innovation in selling, building and motivating high performing teams
- Experience within the business applications marketplace, preferably ERP, Financials or HCM related. Other SaaS application and AI experience is also applicable
- High level of accountability in a high growth environment
- Exceptional professional discovery, presentation, and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence C-level executives.
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills to collaborate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Consistent achievement or overachievement of assigned goals and targets
- Proven as an innovative thinker, self-starter, fast-learner and agent of change
- Travel is expected to be up to 30%
