Trouw Nutrition is hiring… We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Feed Sales Consultant to add sales and nutritional capability to our Alberta Beef Sales team to drive top-line growth in our commercial beef feed business in Northern Alberta. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge in beef cattle nutrition, ruminant feed evaluation, and beef production systems in Western Canada. The successful candidate will be capable of consulting and making recommendations for on-farm feed solutions to our beef customers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with AB beef producers; providing on-farm service and feed solutions to achieve their herd management and production goals.

We count on your experience to professionally promote and sell Trouw Nutrition values proposition and services to existing and potential customers and establish and maintain good relationships at all levels. You will contribute to, implement and realize the sales/account plan for the assigned account/portfolio, acquire and retain (new / potential) accounts and build and strengthen customer relations in order to realize Trouw Nutrition’s commercial objectives.

About The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and new beef customers, serving as a trusted partner and resource for all their nutritional and feed-related needs
  • Drive growth and meet or exceed business targets by becoming a valued partner with our beef clients; providing on-farm consultation and sales calls, and providing value-add support as required in collaboration with our Nutrition team
  • Collaborate effectively with our Nutrition team and other industry professionals (veterinarians) as required to identify customer needs and develop nutritional programs to address those needs. 
  • Conduct on-farm consultations and assessments, supported by Nutrition as required, to evaluate herd performance, nutritional deficiencies, and economic comparisons of different rations.

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education Bachelor's or advanced degree in animal science, animal nutrition and production, or a related beef production field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in livestock feed sales, beef cattle nutrition and production or related field, with a proven track record of delivering results.  Applicable applied experience will be considered
  • Strong understanding of beef cattle production systems including feeding and forage quality, herd management, herd performance metrics and a thorough understanding of the local industry. 
  • Ability to balance on-farm cattle rations and develop feeding programs considered an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to beef producers and diverse audiences.
  • Required to travel extensively to make on-farm sales calls, and attend industry events as needed
