POSITION PURPOSE: 


The working nurse team coordinator will provide oversight of operational activities within their department at the CGH Clinics and in coordination with all clinic staff within that department. This position works closely with the Clinic Administration to assure continuity of patient care and operational efficiencies. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Individual will perform the job responsibilities of a Clinic RN (see clinic RN job description) in addition to the supervisory duties articulated in this job description.
  • The Team Coordinator will work to facilitate staffing issues within the department, communicating needs to management as appropriate.
  • Responsible for updating missed punches, logging travel sheets and aids in monitoring overtime for nursing staff in the department.

  • Responsible for carrying out level 1 disciplinary notices.
  • Responsible for overseeing the operational activities of their department. This includes PAR levels of medical and office supplies.
  • Will aid in candidate screening for new hires. Team coordinator would help identify top two candidates for job openings and pass to the manager for selection.   
  • Acts as a resource for staff of policies and procedures to ensure departmental effectiveness.
  • Recognizes and responds to unusual occurrences within the department, coordinates action under the direction of the manager.
  • Lead department huddles.
  • Oversees and provides standardize education for department staff with the assistance of Clinical Educator.
  • Works closely with Clinic Administration.  Meets with manager weekly and attends monthly meetings.
  • Coordinate orientation of new employees in the department in collaboration with Clinical Educator.
  • Review and make changes to the departmental checklist annually and as needed, in collaboration with Clinic Administration.
  • Ensure completion of the float’s department specific checklist.
  • Provides input/agenda for department meetings and records minutes. Sends out minutes to office staff.
  • Assisting with onboarding of new providers, ordering supplies, assist with creating schedules and templates.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date providers out schedules.
  • Assist Clinic Administration with investigation and follow up of NRC feedback.
  • Will be familiar with pulling reports such as phone reports, missing charges and other reports that support clinic administration operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required.
  • In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles and procedures used in patient care within clinic care setting. Clear understanding and of use of PCIS and EMR, keeps UTD on changes and communicates them to staff.
  • Three years previous Medical Office experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments preferred.
  • Prior experience in drawing blood is preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.
  • BLS Required within 30 days of hire (ACLS required for Oral Surgery).
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding is preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to document patient needs and assessments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served in the physician office.
  •  Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. 
  • Able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group.
