The Specialty portfolio is at the core of New GSK and will be key to our short- and longer-term success and growth ambition in Europe.

The high-level mandate for the Commercial Head, Europe is to align and deliver on the ambition of our speciality portfolio with a focus on exciting COPD launch:

  • Unlocking growth on a 1–3-year horizon in the context of a shared fit-for-purpose structure, strategy and execution.
  • Lead launch activation for COPD across Europe
  • To upgrade partnership with Europe Region/LOCs and secure required resources to deliver growth of Specialty business through effective agreement and metrics.  Work with Market Access teams to Deliver access and pricing strategies, sequence product registrations and launches to optimise GSK profitability, optimise P&L of each market, provide an Enterprise view and ensure access of GSK medicines to patients
  • Partner with the Global TA to ensure we connect strategy with execution across our core Eu5 markets (UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy) & areas markets.

Key Responsibilities

Acting as a strategic thought partner to Specialty Commercial Head Europe and LOC BU Heads and Region head.  

  • Lead launch readiness for upcoming new products and indication launches
  • Support and challenge LOC’s/Europe Region in developing robust fit-for-purpose plans and strategy. Identify gaps and opportunities leading to tangible impact in our performance and ambition.  Ensure appropriate participation and input in TA reviews. Clarify portfolio priorities for Brand/Geography matrix 
  • Focused two-way listening pipe. Key contact between LOC and TA  to ensure Europe and LOC voice is heard for key requirements around the strategy of our medicines and how this will help deliver on Performance. Including .Pricing, supply, sales force execution, evidence generation.
  • Amplify and represent the “Voice of the Customer”, customer/market insights and emerging trends earlier and louder into global decision making to ensure outcomes are more relevant to LOCs.  
  • Put in context promising opportunities and key risks. Support LOC/Europe Region to identify relevant learnings from other LOCs, partner with TA’s to ensure appropriate forums are in place for sharing with specific focus on BU Head community across Eu5.
  • Ensure integrated performance plans are in place across identified markets and agree on concrete LOC/Europe Regionand Global action plans, milestones and KPIs to support long-term success of prioritized strategic initiatives

Create drive alignment of resources and achieve strategic initiatives

  • Align LOCs, Regional and Global functions around clear and shared objectives to foster tight collaboration and efficient resource utilization.
  • Establish conditions for success Activation agreement and raise required resourcing in LOCs for new launches (Indication extensions). 
  • Monitor and adjust. Accountable for tracking KPIs, monitoring deviations, realigning efforts and resources and escalating for action if necessary.
  • Representation on agreed MCT’s and working groups ensuring continued connectivity between TA Global strategy and LOC execution.
  • Lead relevant sessions at ECLT 

Getting things done” to ensure opportunities are captured

  • Connect and troubleshoot. Build strong networks across TA, Global support functions and LOC/Region level to connect, involve and facilitate partnership. Accountable for troubleshooting and resolution of important issues for LOCs when not satisfactorily handled by normal processes. Prioritize requests to LOCs.
  • Orchestrate and procure expert operational market support resources. Evaluate adequate level of support and deploy TA resources based on market prioritization.  Procure additional or unplanned operational market support. Provide guidance and deploy operational support to LOCs for markets, including optimizing local pricing strategy with market access team
  • Represent LOCs/P&L, providing fact-based insights on market trends, upsides and downsides. Accountable for transparency of upside/downside scenarios and to verify budget
  • Lead TA/Region planning process and congress interface for Specialty 
  • Ensure high-quality support to Eu Areas to unlock growth opportunities and deliver excellent launches.

Support and drive capability building

  • Support Region leadership, Specialty Business Unit Heads to identify gaps, needs and strategies
  • Lead pan-European initiatives to support Specialty business
  • Partner with European Specialty medical leads to identify pan-Eu gaps that need to be filled, develop plan with x-functional engagement and execute with quality and speed.
