The successful applicant is expected to work across the Surgical matrix of commercial functions including, but not limited to, Global and Regional Commercial Capabilities, Regional Sales Leadership, Regional Marketing, Medical Education, and HR. Working with these key stakeholders, this individual will partner with learning design to develop and deploy curricula to effectively execute on Surgical core business initiatives, as well as engage in a continuous feedback loop.

The Surgical Training Manager will be an integral part of preparing the commercial teams for success in the areas of Robotic Surgical Technologies, Digital Technologies, as well as supporting the One Surgical Training needs of the business across Core Surgical Innovations (GST & AST).

This will be achieved by executing technical, clinical and commercial training focused on advanced sales skills, clinical and technical system implementation and safe and efficacious use. This position reports to the ANZ Commercial Capabilities Leader.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Identify training needs: Drive the collaboration of the different regional stakeholders to identify skill or knowledge gaps based on roles and responsibilities.

  • Training development: Partner with Global and Regional departments to design and develop training courses that align with organizational goals and objectives and when required / or needed the principle of 80% standardization 20% customization will be implemented.

  • Training delivery: Deliver clinical and technical content effectively using digital resources and methods such as Blended, Synchronous and Asynchronous learning.

  • Training evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of the training by measuring learning outcomes through evaluations, surveys and feedback.

  • Team collaboration: Foster cross departmental training collaboration that promotes a culture of learning that enhances communication efficiency and continuous improvement.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience selling in the Core Surgical Portfolio, AST, GST, or Hernia (this role requires delivery of One Surgical Training programs).

  • Have experience with delivering clinical sales training.

  • Strong commercial acumen to enable commercial excellence.

  • Excellent communication skills, high EQ and a genuine enthusiasm for training and development with commitment to teamwork.

  • In-depth knowledge of successful field sales and support organization structure, processes, and culture.

  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills with demonstrated leadership and coaching capabilities.

  • Experience with project management/project leadership, excellent planning and organizational skills coupled with demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently.

  • Excellent spoken and written skills.

  • Operating Room knowledge and experience.

  • Understanding of instructional design and use of adult learning principles for training curricula development.

  • Experience in strategy development or support.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate from idea generation, strategy development through detailed implementation and results delivery.

  • Experience in change management.
