JOB SUMMARY: 

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of small to medium complexity technology solutions in both a new product development and current model environment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Develop new products from requirement analysis, architecture creation, detailed design, off-tool evaluation till mass production

·         Work and collaborate closely with team to define, design, and develop ideas from concept to finished design and solve engineering problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within demanding project timescales

·         Preparation of Bill of Material, parts/modules specifications and material specifications. Collect, develop, maintain, and organize project documentation in accordance with company’s engineering standards.

·         Knowledge of evaluating design margins and reliability factors (tolerances, material strength and compatibility)

·         Work with NPI, System Engineer and Test Engineers to facilitate assembly process and testing methods

·         Well versed with Design FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFA (Design for Assembly)

·         Working with suppliers and internal production sites to introduce products and resolve technical issues

·         Lead engineering change, technical cost reduction and fixture design for series production

·         Support existing products. Investigate and determine root cause of product issues and determine appropriate resolution

·         Lead failure analysis on products and recommend necessary improvements to enhance product performance

·         Ensure design output aligned with regulatory standards and regulations for the medical device industry

·         Good knowledge in sheet metal, plastic enclosure, extrusions, and castings design

·         Material and process knowledge – metal stamping, injection molding, insert molding, die casting, extrusion, machining, plating, welding, and powder coating

·         Self-motivated, ability in recognizing problems and take corrective action

Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering

·         3 - 5 years’ mechanical design experience in automotive, machining tools, consumer, medical products, or related field

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

·         Solid problem solving and analytical skills

·         Good practical working knowledge of mechanical engineering, kinematic design & analysis, strength of materials and engineering drawings

·         Proficient with 2D and 3D modelling software

·         Strong knowledge in GD&T, tolerance analysis, FEA, failure analysis, sheet metal, plastics, and rubber part design

·         Good presentation skills

·         Good technical writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with customers, suppliers, and various technical fields

·         Proactive attitude, independent, self-motivated with a strong passion for product design work. Good team player with initiative to help teammates and always ready to take on more tasks

·         Ability to work closely and effectively with cross-site, multi-functional teams

·         Responsible and able to work under pressure

·         Good English in verbal and writing

·         Working knowledge of office management software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
