Nurse Manager – Nursing Informatics

As the Nursing Informatics Nurse Manager, you will design, develop, implement, modify and evaluate all automated systems for the Nursing Institute. Caregivers in this role develop and recommend solutions, both automated and manual, to enhance functionality, manage the nursing aspects related to the implementation of major clinical and medical systems, and manage nursing and ancillary project teams associated with the development or implementation of clinical and financial information systems. 

A caregiver in this position works 8:00am – 5:00pm and can work a hybrid schedule.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Manage the development and implementation of automated clinical information systems for the Nursing Institute and the integration/interface to all other hospital systems. 

  • Ensure automated systems conform to accreditation standards, such as JCAHO and HCFA, and to standards set by other regulatory agencies. 

  • Assist ITD and other support departments in planning and organizing of technical information in clinical areas and ensure compatibility with financial and other hospital information systems. 

  • Develop and review the matrices of the organization, processes, applications, and data relations to assist in defining, documenting, recommending changes to the CC Information Architecture. 

  • Chair and advise multi-disciplinary committees to determine system solutions to ensure patient medical needs are met. 

  • Act as liaison activities between ITD, other CC departments, and the Nursing Institute to plan, document, and maintain automation of patient care activities related to the nursing functions, procedures and protocols. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).  

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).  

  • Five years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or major medical center.  

  • Experience working with health information systems and technologies.  

  • Experience leading or managing projects for the integration of information systems and clinical practice.  

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical nursing theory, practice and healthcare delivery systems.  

  • Advanced knowledge of information systems as applied and integrated with nursing practice including clinical and financial systems related to healthcare.  

  • Knowledge of JCAHO and HCFA requirements pertaining to clinical care knowledge of EMR documentation.    

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Master’s degree in nursing informatics or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands that may require standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Sufficient manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform the basic functions of the position.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and some irregular hours.
  • Possible exposure to bacterial and viral contamination.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
  • Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
