Residential Support Specialist

Independence, Missouri

Job overview:

You will work alongside a team providing direct care, supervision, and assistance to adult clients in the areas of crisis management, problem solving, and working toward prescribed treatment goals. You will work with clients on their daily program, specific interventions and adjustments to the environment, including homework, chores, recreation, social skills, individualized treatment plan goals.

What you'll get to do:

  • Provide general supervision of all residents. 
  • Monitor and chart client activity and treatment progress daily (i.e., shift notes, logs, point sheets, treatment plan, etc.), completing all required documentation in a timely manner as per licensure and departmental guidelines.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills (i.e., laundry, personal hygiene,) and general supervision of clients as needed.
  • Engage with your resident team during group environment activities, providing intervention as needed for resident members to obtain maximum benefit from the activity. Monitor client participation and progress in treatment program to assure planned provision of service.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and revision of the individual treatment plans. Observe and evaluate resident’s behavior, making an ongoing assessment of the status of all clients including their strengths, progress, problems and needs.
  • Dispense medications to clients (per physician’s orders) as requested and training permits.
  • Facilitate specialized groups (social skills, relaxation, recreation, craft, life skill, etc.) as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Must be 21 years of age *
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED/HiSet.
  • Must have a favorable driving record and valid driver’s license.
  • *If driving a Burrell vehicle, the minimum age requirement is 23.
