Sales Engineering at Proofpoint People Protection Group (PPG)
As a Sales Engineer at PPG, specializing in Adaptive Email Products (Security, Misdirected and Exfiltration) you will play a substantial role in building and sustaining customer relationships while driving the adoption of Adaptive Email solutions. As a Sales Engineer you will work closely with commercial and extended teams to support the acquisition of new revenue from existing and prospective customers, focusing on technical alignment of our product and how we address our customers threats. The Sales Engineer role at People Protection Group will be impactful, visible, and rewarding.
Responsibilities:
The Sales Engineer works hand-in-hand with the Commercial teams to develop and deliver customer solutions, supporting the broader Proofpoint sales team to hit sales targets.
The Sales Engineer seeks to build deep, consultative relationships with their customer, effectively becoming a trusted adviser. The Sales Engineer is ideally positioned to understand the customer's high-level business objectives, and match these to Adaptive Email solutions to satisfy the business and technical requirements.
The Sales Engineer is comfortable presenting Adaptive Email’s value proposition, technologies, strategy, and product roadmaps to all levels at their customer including executives, technical management, and technical engineers.
Continuously develop and expand the knowledge of customers' business and mission. Create and present solutions that address customers' needs using the Adaptive Email portfolio along with third-party solutions.
Once an opportunity is identified, the Sales Engineer is a critical member in developing the opportunity and moving it towards closure. Sales Engineers will be responsible for developing expertise delivering the technical competitive intelligence for our sales team.
Sales Engineers constantly seek to expand their technical expertise and knowledge of Adaptive Email technologies, industry direction and trends via enablement and internal training offerings.
The Sales Engineer will be responsible on enabling the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers and act as a Specialist and Go to person for everything around Adaptive Email solutions.
As a group, Sales Engineers communicate and collaborate with their peers and colleagues on trends, product feedback, customer stories, etc. This will include the creation of technical content and artifacts as well as owning the technical product feedback loop with the product and engineering teams.
Typical Activities will include:
Building high-level design and architecture drawings
Technically validating the solution with the customer
Leading any demonstration or Proof of Value (PoV) activities
Assisting with the preparation of a proposal, Due Diligence and RFP processes
Helping the AE develop business cases and ROI/TCO justifications required to get support to drive business forward
Enablement of the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers
Build processes and tools that will allow us to be more efficient and effective running our regular activities

An enthusiastic self-starter with an outgoing personality, comfortable working both independently and in a team setting.
A confident presenter with the ability to demonstrate material to audiences with varying levels of technical capability.
You have been in the high-tech industry for 3 years in a Pre-sales or customer-facing consulting capacity or have other relevant technical experience that demonstrates your relationship building skills.
Experienced in working with commercial teams and is comfortable with quota driven performance management.
Throughout your career you have gathered significant industry knowledge and experience but what really sets you apart is your expertise in enterprise applications, security, cloud or systems management is really what sets you apart.
Your strong customer facing and relationship building skills, coupled with your listening and questions-based selling skills help you see the “big picture” and create amazing experiences for customers.
Candidates should be located in either the Central or Eastern time zone.
