Job Description: F5 Load Balancer Senior Network Engineer - Network Operations Center Position Title: F5 Load Balancer Senior Network Engineer Location: [City, State] Department: Network Operations Center (NOC) Reports To: NOC Manager/Director of Network Operations Type: Full-Time, Permanent Position Overview: As an F5 Load Balancer Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the load balancing infrastructure within large-scale enterprise network operations. This position requires deep technical expertise in F5 products, including LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, and APM, combined with strong network engineering skills to ensure the availability, performance, and security of network services. You will collaborate with a team of network professionals to support and enhance our mission-critical systems, providing technical leadership and hands-on management of complex network issues. Key Responsibilities: • Load Balancer Management: Design, configure, manage, and maintain F5 load balancers (LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, APM) to optimize the distribution of network traffic and ensure high availability of services. • Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Respond to and resolve complex network incidents, including performance degradation, connectivity issues, and security incidents related to load balancing. • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor and analyze the performance of the load balancing infrastructure, identifying opportunities for tuning and optimization to enhance efficiency and reliability. • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices, including SSL/TLS offloading, DDoS mitigation, and web application firewall (WAF) policies using F5 solutions. Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and industry regulations. • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., iRules, Python, Bash) for automating repetitive tasks, deploying configurations, and integrating with other network management tools. • Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of load balancing configurations, network topologies, and operational procedures. Provide regular reports on system performance, capacity, and incidents. • Collaboration & Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, application developers, and cybersecurity specialists, to deliver seamless network services. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers. • Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Interface with vendors for technical support, product evaluations, and updates. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network systems and ensure rapid resolution of issues. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered. • Experience: o Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years focused on F5 load balancing solutions in an enterprise environment. o Extensive experience with F5 technologies, including LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM, APM. o Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex network environments with a focus on high availability and performance. • Certifications: F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) required. Advanced F5 certifications (F5-CTS, F5-CSE) preferred. Other relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP) are a plus. • Skills: o In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS). o Proficiency in network design and troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark, TCPdump. o Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., iRules, Python, Bash). o Experience with network monitoring and management tools. o Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. o Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
