Within BR&T’s Mission System Technologies (MST) organization, Boeing’s Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) team performs innovation, development and maturation of Advanced Computing and its associated subordinate technologies.

As a Associate-Level Automation Engineer located in El Segundo, California; you will design, develop, test, and maintain non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards. You will develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for systems integrations.

This role will oversee developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products.

Position Responsibilities:

• Control System design based on operating objectives and stakeholder requirements
• Software requirements and functional flow chart development derived from Control System
• Control system software development in a Siemens environment ( TIA Portal, WinCC SCADA)
• Plan, develop & maintain new and existing applications
• Perform software lifecycle management, including requirements analysis, detailed design,

• coding, unit/integration testing, maintenance, and user support (including documentation/training)

• Troubleshoot and resolve various software, instrumentation and control system issues reported by end users.Plan, develop, select, tailor and deploy software processes, tools and metrics.
• Coach and mentor less experienced department personnel to develop their skills and
• Provide guidance and training for technicians

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required) and ability to complete a CI (Counter Intelligence) polygraph after employment start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• 1+ years of experience in the following areas: programming {e.g., , Siemens TIA Portal [ Structured Control Language(SCL), Ladder Logic (LAD), Function Block Diagram (FBD)] , Simatic WINCC V7 / SCADA, , ,IEC 61131-3}, operating systems (e.g., Windows, Windows Server ), SQL databases
• 1+ years of applicable experience in the design, development, operation, and maintenance of process equipment control systems with PLCs
• Experience with industrial control systems including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and instrumentation
• Experience with process documentation including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Electrical wiring diagrams
• Experience with PID controller design and operating principals

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 2+ years of experience in the following areas: programming {e.g. Siemens TIA Portal [Structured Control Language (SCL), Ladder Logic (LAD), Function Block Diagram (FBD)], Simatic WINCC V7 / SCADA, IEC 61131-3}, operating systems (e.g., Windows, Windows Server), SQL databases.
• 2+ years of experience in the design, development, operation, and maintenance of process equipment control systems with PLCs
• 2+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, Access, MS SQL) and database management tasks, including, but not limited to schema design/implementation, scripting (e.g., PL/SQL, stored procedures) and schema-level troubleshooting
• Experience with diagrams, functional flow schematics, and control logic descriptions
• Experience integrating multiple pieces of equipment or stations into a system
• Experience with valve, pump and compressor control principals and systems
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Profibus
• Successfully adjudicated Tier 5 (T5) (formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)) United States security clearance investigation and have had an active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access within the last 24 months.
• Successfully adjudicated polygraph within the last five (5) years

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Masters). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for Associate  $95,650 – $125,350
