Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
What You’ll Get to Do:
IPT-Level role, member of HW Design Team.
This role - responsible for segment and CI mechanical design - works at the Segment/IPT level of an extremely complex System comprised of multiple Segments, all of which incorporate mature and emerging technologies. This engineer will support the hardware design team lead and partner with other engineering functions to progress and mature the segment, and support critical engineering reviews and milestones (e.g. SRR, SFR, SDR, PDR, CDR, SVR, TRR)
This position will serve on-site in Redondo Beach, CA or the greater Baltimore, MD .
This requisition may be filled as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
This position is contingent upon acquiring and maintaining a US Government security clearance per customers' requirements.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Mechanical Design Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with at least 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master's Degree; OR 1 years with a PhD
Familiarity with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management
Familiarity with Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture
Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
Current Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI and a Polygraph prior to start.

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university with at least 8 years of experience; 6 years with Master's Degree; OR 4 years with a PhD
Familiarity with architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management
Familiarity with Systems Engineering fundamentals, principles, and processes, specifically system architecture
Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong technical briefing skills

Preferred Qualifications for Principal / Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer:
Current Active DoD TS/SCI with Polygraph
Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a related field specializing in thermodynamics and heat transfer.
Demonstrated experience in setting-up, executing, and post-processing thermal experiments for the purpose of thermal model validation and material characterization.
Experience with MBSE and Requirements management tools, such as Cameo and DOORS
Familiarity with hardware/software integration, test planning & execution, or operational support
Familiarity with Project & Task Management tools: Jira or Confluence
Familiarity with data visualization tools: Tableau
