POSITION OVERVIEW


At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, this role plays a direct part in supporting the growth of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. The Manager, Online Financing (Credit Score Financing), is responsible for analyzing, structuring, and drafting loan applications within the credit score financing process, using digital strategies to deliver efficient, compliant financing solutions. The role ensures high-quality credit decisions through rigorous analysis, due diligence, and adherence to BDC policies and procedures.


CHALLENGES TO BE MET


  • Identify new business opportunities by engaging with entrepreneurs, understanding their business context, identifying issues, providing advice, and recommending appropriate BDC financing or service solutions when applicable.
  • Review loan documentation and, where required, negotiate transaction structures with internal partners (DC, DCA, GRC) to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, while developing win‑win solutions for both clients and BDC.
  • Analyze, negotiate, prepare, and draft high-quality loan proposals by conducting thorough credit analysis and due diligence, and by applying sound account management practices.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners to promote collaboration, shared objectives, and consistent application of credit policies.
  • Stay current on changes to credit policies, procedures, and processes, as well as on regulatory and credit trends that may impact BDC.
  • Identify potential risks and prepare suspected fraud reports in accordance with established processes.
  • Communicate clearly, promptly, and professionally with clients regarding loan application status, including handling declines with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ensure accurate and continuous updates of client information across BDC systems so files can be seamlessly transferred at any stage.
  • Provide support to other Online Financing teams as required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in credit analysis, financing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound credit decisions and apply credit policies and best practices.
  • Experience drafting loan applications and analyzing and negotiating financial transactions.
  • Thorough understanding of small business dynamics.
  • Ability to identify business opportunities and align entrepreneurs with appropriate financing or services.
  • Strong customer service skills for both internal and external clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting and negotiating with clients and internal partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a changing environment.
  • Autonomy and strong prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Comfort working with digital tools and systems in a technology‑enabled environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of BDC products, services, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience working in online financing, automated credit, or credit score–based financing environments.
  • Written and spoken bilingualism in English and French.
