As an EKG Technician, your primary duties will include:

• Performing EKG diagnostics on patients and recording results.

• Giving patient instructions prior to procedure and reviewing records.

• Monitoring patients during procedures and reporting abnormal findings.

• Performing edits and forwarding results to physicians for analysis.

• Maintaining upkeep of EKG equipment and supplies.

• Has experience with inpatients/ICU and performing EKGs or has a current EKG training certificate.

Job Details

This position is part time 2nd shift – 2:30pm-11pm and every other weekend 

Responsibilities: 

  • Positions and connects leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
  • Reviews patients record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
  • Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
  • Identifies and corrects for wandering, interference, and artifacts.
  • Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
  • Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program preferred.

Certifications:

  • None required.

Complexity of Work:

  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of six months experience related to direct patient care or customer service preferably in a hospital setting required.
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program may offset experience requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
  • Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
  • Extensive walking and standing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
