About the Role

In this medical scientist role, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality pathology services within Special Haematology, working at the forefront of specialised diagnostics. Under the guidance of Senior Scientists, you will gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of advance techniques, including Cellular Therapy, Flow Cytometry, Haemoglobinopathy and Molecular Haematology testing. This is a rare opportunity to develop highly sought-after technical expertise across multiple specialised disciplines.

Classifications for this position will range from classification range RX2 – RY7 ($68,244.8 - $106,906.8 per annum)

Duties

  • Participate in cellular therapy activities including collection, processing, storage, transport, infusion, discard and documentation.

  • Participates in flow cytometry testing including setup, performance, analysis and reporting.

  • Participates in haemoglobinopathy/thalassaemia testing including set up, performance, analysis and reporting.

  • Participates in molecular haematology testing including set up, performance, analysis and reporting.

  • Participates in all relevant clinical trial activities.

Other duties as directed by the Senior Scientist in charge and the Principal Scientist of Haematology, including but not limited to participation in General Haematology testing and workflow.

Your Contribution (Qualifications, Skills and Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent qualification

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Flow Cytometry.

  • Experience in Cellular Therapy, Haemoglobinopathy and Molecular Haematology testing desirable; training will be provided for suitable candidates.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Pathology services are centralised at SVH Fitzroy in Patient Services Building
