POSITION SUMMARY:
Winter Park is currently hiring for a Slope Maintenance Supervisor/Grooming position.
The Grooming Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of snowcat operators in the preparation of a world-class snow surface. This person ensures that nightly snow management objectives are being met, that the crew is delivering a consistent and high-quality product, provides training and growth opportunities for the crew, and ensures that departmental policies are being followed. The Grooming Supervisor leads in a way that fosters a team environment which is focused on safety, quality and efficiency. This position has potential for year-round employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Work with Grooming Manager to create nightly slope maintenance plan
Understand changing snow management objectives throughout season
Pre-operational checks of snowcats and other equipment
Lead nightly team meeting and delegate tasks
Lead team of operators in the completion of the nightly plan
Ensure trails are being maintained to the highest standard
Be proactive in addressing slope maintenance issues, ie thin spots, lift areas
Anticipate upcoming slope maintenance needs and special course builds
Complete other snowcat projects as assigned
Fueling of equipment using safe practices
Post-operational check of machines, clean off snow, clean cab
Maintain accurate logs on equipment used
Communicate any equipment issues with the heavy equipment mechanics
Housekeeping of work areas/shop areas/equipment
Provide training and growth opportunities for snowcat operators.
Provide constructive feedback to snowcat operators throughout the season
Regularly communicate with the Grooming Manager about team performance
Complete annual evaluations of direct reports.
Performance of other duties as directed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Valid, non-restricted motor vehicle driver’s license
Minimum 3+ years of snowcat experience
Previous supervisory experience, preferred
Good communication skills and ability to work with others
Knowledge of slope maintenance objectives and techniques
Advanced grooming skills
Winch cat experience, preferred
Heavy equipment experience, preferred
Familiarity with Winter Park’s trail system, preferred
Skiing/ riding ability, preferred
Reliable transportation to/from work at hours outside normal business hours
Punctuality and ability to meet assigned work schedule
Ability to work night hours, weekends and holidays
First aid training, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is required to work evenings and/or overnight, weekends and holidays while in operation.
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
Ability to work for extended periods of time while seated.
Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as shovels and basic mechanic’s tools.
Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
hourly pay range: $24.00-$30.00, based on experience
