Senior Software Architect

Description -

As a Senior Software Architect in CSS, you will be part of a talented architecture team supporting the digital transformation of HP’s systems of experience and business operations.  You enjoy working with other experts committed to making excellent SW, and you appreciate clarity of mission and our shared commitment to SW development excellence.  Your ability to understand large and complex systems that touch every part of a customer journey will ensure we are building the right capabilities in the right way to not only grow our existing businesses, but also set us up for our future growth.  You have strong experience in cloud and software architecture and are excited for the ability to grow your expertise across systems operating at huge scale with a global footprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the architecture for cloud environments and platforms while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements
  • Applies advanced theoretical knowledge to design groundbreaking, cloud-based solutions 
  • Communicates the work of the cloud engineering team to the rest of the organization
  • Creates technology strategy and architectural documentation related to cloud platforms
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced engineers and team members

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Highest source of authority and expertise in software applications development at the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to organize a team around the collection and analysis of input from multiple sources (customers, sales, engineering, marketing, competitor, and management)
  • Comprehensive experience in software development and systems engineering
  • Strong leadership and innovation skills
  • History of innovation with multiple patents or deployed solutions in the field of software engineering.
  • Confidence in selecting technology
  • Negotiation with product owners to guide solutions to avoid unneeded complexity
  • Extensive experience in overall architecture of firmware and interaction with hardware designs for products and solutions
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at the most senior organizational levels
  • Modern knowledge of cloud-based practices including Docker/EKS, Java/GoLang, CI/CD, and microservice design patterns
  • Experience in overall architecture and development of subscription Ecommerce ecosystems

Scope & Impact:

  • Directly leads to improvements in overall product delivery for all of Engineering, via both internal process re-engineering and working with partners
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and advise various internal, partner, and customer teams on the needs and requirements of target markets
  • Provides guidance for junior team members
  • Leadership and decision making has immediate and long-term impacts on the profitability and success of the product

Education & Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years experience; or equivalent experience.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $137,000 -- $211,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
