YOUR ROLE:

is seeking a highly motivated and experienced 3D CAD Design Engineer to support the delivery of critical capability for Defence Land vehicle programs. This is a 12 month Fixed-Term Contract role which can be based at our Bendigo site or our Melbourne office.

In this role, you will strengthen Thales’ 3D CAD design capabilities by engaging in developing and validating components and systems for medium and heavy vehicles. The role is open to people with a relevant Engineering degree or similar, and at least 5 years of experience with Creo Parametric 3D CAD design software.

YOUR ROLE

  • Design, develop, and validate components and systems for medium and heavy vehicles using appropriate tools and techniques, working independently or as part of a team under broad professional guidance.

  • Produce designs and solutions utilising Creo Parametric 3D CAD software that meets stakeholder requirements and applicable regulations, both internal and external.

  • Support prototyping, trials, and validation of the solutions developed.

  • Undertake tolerance analysis, collaborate with other groups to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, quality, and to support design optimization.

  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Passion for Design Engineering with strong fundamental knowledge of design principles and practices.

  • Proven experience with the 3D CAD packages, such as Creo Parametric.

  • Basic familiarity with PLM systems.

  • Proficiency in standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Experience in design and manufacturing environments, especially automotive, heavy vehicle or defence is highly desirable.
