ASU Local was born from ASU’s pioneering efforts to create community-based college pathways, reimagining higher education to ensure equitable access for all learners. ASU Local blends the flexibility of online learning with in-person support and engagement. It offers students the opportunity to pursue an ASU degree while staying rooted in their own communities, supported by coaches, advocates, and peers. The program is designed to expand equitable access to higher education by removing barriers of geography and traditional campus constraints. Through ASU Local, learners gain both a world-class ASU education and the resources to succeed in college, career, and life.

This is a hands-on, high-accountability enrollment leadership role for someone with deep roots in higher education admissions and enrollment management. The systems and core strategies that produced our recent growth are in place. What we need now is an Associate Director of Enrollment and Recruitment who brings higher ed enrollment expertise, translates proven strategies into staff capability across a team, partners cross-functionally with units like the Creative Communications and the Explore unit under University College, and makes data-driven decisions at every turn.

We need a leader who rolls up their sleeves, gets into the work alongside the team, and is energized by the pace of growth we are sustaining. Performance will be measured directly by enrollment outcomes.

Essential Duties:

Higher Education Enrollment Expertise & Strategy

  • Serve as the resident expert in higher ed enrollment strategy, bringing professional experience in admissions, enrollment management, or student recruitment from a college or university setting

  • Translate that expertise into concrete, executable recruitment plans across all ASU Local sites, grounded in what the data shows is working

  • Develop and maintain a data-informed enrollment strategy; analyzing funnel metrics, conversion rates, yield patterns, and outreach effectiveness to drive decisions and adjust course in real time

  • Lead enrollment strategy development in close partnership with the Executive Director, including serving as a strategic thought partner to the Explore department on building and refining their own enrollment approach

Cross-Functional Partnership with Creative Communications

  • Serve as the primary enrollment strategy partner to the Creative Communications team in the Dean's Office, translating recruitment goals and data insights into actionable creative briefs

  • Collaborate with marketers and copywriters to ensure campaigns, messaging, and outreach materials are strategically aligned with enrollment targets and audience segments

  • Bring the data (open rates, conversion by channel, event attendance, yield by cohort) so that creative decisions are grounded in what is actually moving prospective students toward enrollment

  • Provide strategic direction and clear enrollment context, and partner with the Creative Communications team to lead the creative execution

  • Partner with the Explore unit to align on recruitment strategies, share what is working across ASU Local, and co-develop best practices for converting online-adjacent students into enrolled learners

Staff Training & Recruitment Execution

  • Design and deliver a comprehensive training series for all ASU Local staff members covering the recruitment strategies that have driven our growth: pipeline outreach, community college transfer engagement, ASU Local signature events, and high-touch calling and SMS campaigns

  • Translate national strategy into site-level execution; ensuring every staff member understands not just what to do, but why it works and how to adapt it to their community

  • Coach site leaders to own their enrollment outcomes with confidence, using data to diagnose problems and act decisively

  • Codify best practices into replicable systems and training materials that scale as ASU Local grows into new communities

Data & Enrollment Systems Management

  • Regularly review and analyze enrollment funnel data across all sites (tracking inquiry, application, admission, and yield rates to identify gaps and opportunities)

  • Use data to set site-level growth targets, evaluate strategy effectiveness, and make the case for resource allocation

  • Maintain and optimize the enrollment systems already in place

  • Oversee enrollment system setup for any new site launches as ASU Local expands

Budget & Resource Oversight

  • Manage recruitment budgets and site-level marketing fund allocation in partnership with site leaders

  • Ensure spending decisions are tied to data and aligned with enrollment priorities

  • Advise on allocation of central resources to support operational needs and growth across all locations

Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director to support the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a Master’s degree preferred, however, relevant work experience is highly valued. You have earned a bachelor’s degree. Ideally, you will have a master's of education or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing enrollment growth strategies across multiple sites.

  • Evidence of achieving or exceeding benchmarks in student enrollment, persistence, engagement, and/or goal attainment.

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems, student case management, and enrollment technology tools (3+ years).

  • Strong track record of building partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations.

  • Evidence of designing learning or engagement experiences for small and large groups.

  • Experience collaborating with marketing teams to align recruitment strategies, campaigns, and messaging with organizational goals.

  • Experience in instructing, coaching, or mentoring students.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse

  • Frequent to Standing for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work

  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds

  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to the resolution of conflicts
