As a Chapter Area Lead Advanced Analytics Platform specialising in our MLOps Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Quality Engineering and Data Engineering chapter, you will bring a wealth of leadership expertise, managing large teams of platform, data, software engineers. We’re responsible for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for data analytics, information management and decisioning. We work across the AWS Cloud, Hadoop Big Data Platform, Analytics Workbench for Machine Learning, Pega Decisioning, SAS, R, Tableau, Oracle BI, Ab Initio. 

 

You will be part of an empowering group of future leaders that are constantly driving outcomes, behaviours, cultural mindsets and risk-mitigating practices within the engineering teams. You will lead and manage teams that produce a unique set of data products to deliver enterprise scale frameworks to meet our needs for cost effective, reliable and auditable outcomes, in line with the Group’s Data & Analytics strategy.

Our Chapter Area Lead are hands-on technical leaders, defining their teams’ technical roadmap and fostering a world-class engineering culture of innovation and curiosity.  

  • Prioritise the work that will give them what they need to be happy, productive and autonomous. 
  • An evangelist for engineering principles, practices and standards 
  • Be responsible for the strategic technology direction for the team, including managing code 
  • Manage workforce planning and staff retention, cultivating a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers voices are heard 
  • Designing new application features and communicating these to stakeholders and your team

  • Proficiency in key capabilities – IT SDLC processes, written documentation/ specification skills
  • Experience in working across a number of technical domains with the ability to understand new emerging technical skills, help team to implement optimal solutions by cross-skilling them

 

Tech skills:  

 

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks, which always results in our people leaders managing a diversified team of engineers in every chapter. We do not expect that you come with previous experience in managing teams that have worked with all of these skillsets, but exposure to common environments wherein you have people managed similarly skilled teams or any equivalent leadership experience will also set you up for success in this role! 

 

Most importantly, experience and a natural ability to influence decisions & educate & manage multiple stakeholder groups, along with a real passion to contribute for thought leadership will be ideal! 

  • MLOps tooling understanding including model registry services, model monitoring services, Feature Stores. 
  • Cloud tooling understanding such as Terraform, CFTs and EKS.
  • Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift platform understanding
  • Scala, ANSI/ISO SQL along with backend coding expertise in Java and Python   
  • Machine Learning libraries ad model development, Jupyter notebook 
  • Tableau VizQL 
  • Pega visual language 
  • Realtime Streaming technologies, Kafka and Flink
