About the Role

The Consultant Neurologist will provide specialist Neurophysiological assessments of both inpatient and outpatient patients. The Neurologist will be required to be competent in performing, reporting and teaching a full range of peripheral neuromuscular investigations (including complex EMGs, nerve conduction studies, single fibre EMGs, repetitive stimulation studies and other specialised techniques). The Neurologist will also be responsible for overseeing and/or reporting QSART, QST and evoked potential testing. The Neurologist will be involved in the supervision and teaching of Registrars attached to the Neurology Unit, and a Neurophysiology Fellow.


Your Contribution 
Personal competence by supporting internal training programs and encouraging developmental opportunities including continuing medical education and participating in regular performance reviews with the Head of Neurophysiology.

Regular attendance at department, hospital and specialty educational meetings and forums

Ongoing supervision and training of junior medical staff including education of registrars, HMOs and the Fellow.

The Neurologist will either perform or ensure the provision of Tutorials or other teaching methods to cover the curriculum requirements of ANZAN/RACP and will also ensure adequate teaching of Trainees in peripheral Neurophysiology as required by ANZAN/RACP.

About The Neuroscience Department
Neurosciences is a multidisciplinary unit dedicated to improving the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders. The unit provides a complete clinical and diagnostic service and maintains a strong research focus; principally centred on epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and movement disorders.
