This position will require supporting on-call support outside of regular working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Additionally, shift adjustments may be necessary to meet production demands..

General Summary

Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of a variety of different types of hand and power tools associated with plumbing and pipe fitting. Supports manufacturing and facilities personnell by using skills and abilities to fabricate, modify and repair a wide variety of items with a wide variety of materials. Performs economically feasible repairs to the greatest extent possible with stocked or purchased parts and available tools.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)

• Works in a safe and orderly manner at all times. Obeys plant, department and area rules and regulations and proactively encourages other team members to do so.
• Obtains, maintains and wears or uses all necessary safety equipment as directed by work instructions or area supervisor.
• Attends shift, department and plant meetings in a timely manner as directed by supervisor.
• Constructs, installs, modifies and repairs all types of plumbing and fixtures including but not limited to potable water, drain, waste, vent, refrigeration, steam and gas.
• Installs, repairs and maintains various hydraulic/pneumatic systems and checks and adjusts controls, gauges and valves to achieve proper flow control and/or pressure.
• Works from blueprints, CAD/CAM layouts, sketches, models and verbal instructions.
• Maintains process integrity with proper documentation and observance of process records
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times.

Educational Skills and Experience

• High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following:
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision
  • Read and comprehend process instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret analog and digital gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret written standards from equipment manufacturers
• Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience in the industrial pipefitting/plumbing field OR
• A Journeyman's license with associated apprenticeship completion.
• Basic understanding of fasteners and including their use, function, and installation as applicable.
• Technical understanding of plumbing systems and components.
• Ability to use pipe cutting, threading and bending equipment.
• Ability to perform basic welding, brazing and soldering of pipes and metal fixtures.
• Must satisfactorily pass a written comprehension test and mechanical aptitude evaluation.

Must own and maintain a complimentary set of hand tools sufficient to perform all duties presently required and must be willing to obtain replacement/additional hand tools as required. Employer will supply and maintain any required tooling deemed as 'special' or of extremely limited use.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme heat; explosives and vibration. Eye protection in the form of approved safety glasses with side shields or approved safety goggles is required. Approved steel-toe safety shoes are required. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection to be worn in the work area.

Physical Demands

• Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision, depth perception and peripheral vision
• Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 25 lbs. unaided
• Ability to stand or sit for up to 3 hours at a time
• Ability to frequently kneel, crouch, bend or extend reach as required to perform tasks
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs
• Ability to grasp and feel small parts

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

Hourly Rate: $29.33 - $39.27

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
