Position Summary:   As a Supply Chain Planning Intern/Co-Op Student at Ciena, you will have the opportunity to support the Ciena Supply Chain for the PON Portfolio of products. This role offers a valuable learning experience and a chance to contribute to the success of material management by assisting in product introduction and revenue attainment. You will also develop supply chain skills in line with Ciena's values of agility, customer focus, integrity, and collaboration with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with OEM suppliers to ensure system data integrity, especially where related to delivery commits and performance result.
  • Support to manage adequate inventory level to support demand variation through OEM vendors.
  • Collect, analyze, and provide input or create documentation and weekly reports using tools such as Kinaxis and Excel macros.
  • Ensure the timeliness supply and delivery of materials based on the demand planning requirement.

Activities:

  • Participate in the creation and execution of Forecast cycles to support revenue and demand plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Undertake special duties and projects assigned by senior material planners to enable shorter lead times, improved agility, and delivery reliability.
  • Participate on CM production plan meetings and deliveries.
  • Manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders closure.

Requirement and desired Skills:

  • 3rd year Business / Administration or Engineering bachelor’s degree underway.
  • Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, Kinaxis, and Oracle.  Macro handling and generation know-how.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. Outgoing and creative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
