Job Summary:

The Senior Transportation Reporting Analyst plays a key role in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting transportation data to drive strategic logistics decisions, optimize costs, and improve operational efficiency. This role combines strong technical skills with business acumen to uncover insights, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement across transportation functions. The analyst collaborates closely with stakeholders to deliver actionable reports and dashboards, aligning data analysis with logistics and supply chain objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct detailed transportation analysis using statistical tools, SQL, and data visualization platforms.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor transportation KPIs and metrics.
  • Aggregate, clean, and transform data from multiple systems to prepare it for analysis and business reporting.
  • Identify data anomalies, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities through trend and root cause analysis.

Data Visualization & Communication

  • Build impactful, user-friendly dashboards using tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Present data insights through clear, compelling narratives and visualizations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and ensure solutions are aligned to business needs.

Strategy & Optimization

  • Support development of logistics and transportation strategies based on analytical insights.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend improvements in transportation efficiency and service delivery.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, supply chain) to align strategic objectives.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all analysis and reporting align with transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, HOS).
  • Perform risk assessments and contribute to contingency planning to mitigate transportation-related risks.
  • Support audits and compliance reviews through accurate data documentation and reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on industry best practices in data analytics, reporting, and transportation systems.
  • Recommend and implement process enhancements to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and impact of reporting efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in reporting, data analysis, or a similar role, preferably within transportation or logistics environments.

Technical Expertise

  • SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to write complex queries to extract and manipulate large data sets.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Skilled in Excel, statistical analysis, and modeling techniques.
  • Visualization Tools: Advanced knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Data Quality: Ability to ensure high levels of accuracy and integrity in reporting.

Business & Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to draw meaningful conclusions from complex datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating data into business insights.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of transportation systems, supply chain processes, and logistics best practices.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards.
