As a Hospice Chaplain with Elara Caring, you will provide essential spiritual support to patients, families, and team members, honoring diverse beliefs and faith backgrounds. A Day in the Life of a Hospice Chaplain

The Hospice Chaplain provides compassionate spiritual care to patients, families, and staff across diverse faiths. This role combines counseling, prayer, and support in end-of-life settings. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Spiritual Guidance: Delivers pastoral care through individual and group services, prayer, meditation, and worship opportunities.

  • Response to Needs: Responds promptly to pastoral requests and coordinates with local clergy to address spiritual needs.

  • Interdisciplinary Care: Collaborates with healthcare staff to integrate spiritual care into patient support, keeping records to ensure continuity.

  • Documentation and Quality Improvement: Maintains activity records, participates in quality improvement, and contributes to staff training and professional development.

  • Community Engagement: Engages in publication, teaching, and research on pastoral topics, representing the hospice philosophy and mission.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Religious Studies, or a related field with at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Counseling.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a hospice, counseling, or ministry environment.

  • Certification & Ordination: Ordained minister status required; Board Certified Chaplain is preferred.

  • Reliable Transportation: Valid driver’s license, insurance, and dependable transportation for travel (up to 50%).
