Position Summary
This position is part of the Communications & Customer Experience team (corporate communications, customer experience, creative services, and digital communications). The team is responsible for delivering corporate brand and customer experience projects and centralized programs for the organization, and works collaboratively on the planning, development, and execution of projects and activities. Reporting to the Creative Services Lead, this role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day graphic design needs of the organization.

•Hours of work – 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains and upholds visual identity standards associated with the Town of Milton’s brand as “A Place of Possibility”

  • Develops fresh, exciting concepts for all external collateral issued by the Town of Milton that resonate with target audiences and meet or exceed leading industry standards

  • Monitors trends related to branding and municipal government design        

  • Design and production of Town of Milton collateral (print and digital communications, marketing materials, and signage etc.)

  • Conceptualizes innovative design solutions to engage target audiences in print and digital formats such as posters, publications, signage, videos, social media assets

  • Collaborates and coordinates design collateral with the Creative Services Lead to ensure brand compliance and that AODA standards are met

  • Assists with workflow related to creative services

Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a post-secondary degree or diploma in Graphic Design or related field of study is required

  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design or student/co-op placement in complex organizations or agency settings

  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design for motion graphics, video production and editing

  • Proven experience with design software (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects, Canva)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Graphic design portfolio showcasing range of design work is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Digital illustration skills

  • Experience with social media content creation

  • Previous experience in graphic design work or placement

  • Working knowledge and application of all relevant AODA standards and copyright legislation related to print and digital media
