Job Summary:

TO PLAN, ASSIGN, AND SUPERVISE EMPLOYEES ENGAGED IN PERFORMING A VARIETY OF SERVICES INVOLVED IN THE ORDERING, PROCESSING, RECEIVING, AND DISTRIBUTION OF MEDICAL AND PATIENT EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES. COLLECTS, RECORDS AND REPORTS ON DATA/METRICS. COLLABORATES WITH MANAGER ON SCHEDULING AND DEPARTMENT STAFFING. PARTICIPATES IN SPD STAFF WORK/FUNCTION AS NEEDED. ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN THE PLANNING OF INSERVICES AND STAFF EDUCATION.

Education & Experience

Associates Degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required; Minimum 5 years of sterile processing experience

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:  Any 1 (one) of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
or Certified Healthcare Leadership (CHL) or Certified Surgical Instrument Processor (CSIP) or Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist (CSIS) or Other nationally recognized SPD certifications considered

A second certification from this list must be acquired within 6 months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF PRODUCT STERILITY, STORAGE, AND PROCESSING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. SKILL IN THE USE OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND RELATED SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS. MATH SKILLS. VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. ABILITY TO MAINTAIN INVENTORY CONTROLS AND SUPPLY LEVELS. ABILITY TO PERFORM BASIC SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • SUPERVISES THE RECEIPT, VERIFICATION, STORAGE, AND DISTRIBUTION OF  PATIENT EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, INSTRUMENTS, AND SUPPLIES.
  • SUPERVISES EMPLOYEES TO INCLUDE WORK ALLOCATION, TRAINING, EVALUATION, AND PROBLEM RESOLUTION.
  • MONITORS DAILY INVENTORY BALANCES AND COLLABORATES IN DETERMINING STOCKING REQUIREMENTS.
  • MONITORS AND FACILITATES WORKFLOW, MAXIMIZING UTILIZATION OF SPACE AND RESOURCES TO IMPROVE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY. COLLABORATES IN THE RESOLUTION OF LOGISTICAL AND OTHER SUPPLY MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS.
  • PREPARES NECESSARY REPORTS; MAINTAINS APPLICABLE SUPPLY DATABASE, RECORDS, AND FILES.
  • PROMOTES CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT IN WORKPLACE SAFETY; ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND/OR INFECTION CONTROL PRACTICES.
