Description of the role

 

The Google.org Impact Challenge (GIC) is an open call for nonprofit, academic institutions, and social enterprises with charitable projects. Selected organizations receive a strategic package of support from Google, including grant funding and high-touch capacity building.

 

As an Operations Program Manager for the GIC, you’ll help run operations for a program that aims to surface and support organizations doing innovative social impact work across the globe. You will work with cross-functional teams, you will be a driving force behind the program - managing the creative execution, assisting with creative direction, keeping teams in sync and doing whatever is needed to make sure the program is executed successfully.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Open call operations: Manage day-to-day execution and operations of open call programs, in close coordination with xFN and Google.org GIC team. Drive and manage fast-moving timelines, complex logistics, many simultaneously moving parts, and coordinating across timezones. Leverage problem-solving and analytical skills and impeccable business judgment to successfully land programs.
  • Data Analysis: Lead analysis and documentation of programs including what worked well, what didn’t, and suggestions for improvement. Analyse program engagement data; provide the wider team with weekly reports on performance.
  • Website management: Manage the open call website with core GIC team and marketing.
  • Event planning: Support planning and execution of events, strategic application review meetings (Selection Meetings or Planning Summits), launch and announcement coordination, including building contact lists, managing invitations, press, KOFs, Policy makers and facilitating trainings for large audiences of nonprofits

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Excellent project coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple functions
  • Strong passion for social impact projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in project management or operations involving fast-moving timelines, complex logistics, many simultaneously moving parts, and coordinating across time zones.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and impeccable business judgment.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Adaptable, flexible, capable of working both independently and in teams, and demonstrate a strong ability to quickly build expertise in new areas and projects.
  • Passion for the nexus of technology and social impact; history of personal support for civic or charitable impact efforts.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional work (e.g. coordinating Finance, Legal, Comms)
  • Experience working on Google internal tools on a daily basis (e.g. Accord, BuyingHub). Must be comfortable with Google sheets.
  • Experience at a leading non-profit, philanthropic organization, social business venture, or strategy consulting firm.
