As a Route Management Specialist at IDEXX, you will provide support for IDEXX Customer Service, Sales, Lab Operations and Transportation Teams. In this role, you will monitor transportation vendor performance and provide troubleshooting and communication support. Schedule:
This is a virtual, full-time (40 hr/wk.) position with a Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm schedule. Please note that the bulk of our transportation activities occur overnight and on weekends, so there will be times when there is the need to take customer escalation calls at nights or on weekends. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position. Travel is 5% or less.
In this role:
You will oversee transportation routes in a virtual capacity in a territory to be determined. Changes in territory coverage are made based upon the needs of the business.
You will manage third-party vendor relationships, monitor activities and evaluate respective performance, and resolve escalated issues from internal and external clients.
You will maintain updated relevant client and route information as well as data integrity, utilization, and maximization of TMS, Salesforce, or any applicable systems.
You will create and implement informed, business-supported route changes, including auditing routes and creating efficient courier route sequencing.
You will implement the Transportation department's strategy and communicate a coherent vision for the department.
You will identify and lead opportunities for department change and improvement, including efficiency gains and cost-reduction initiatives.
You will manage delivery schedules and set expectations with business stakeholders.
You will report out on delivery metrics and KPIs, and hold vendors accountable for performance.
You will manage courier performance and customer and sales escalations.
You will participate in department projects—right now budget-focused—and help maintain budget accountability by providing cost information and cost-saving recommendations.
You will constantly analyze data, including route start/end times, escalations, late-arriving routes, and flight schedules, and communicate trends to vendors.
You will communicate with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
You will possess a commitment and desire for growth with the ability to receive constructive performance feedback.
What you'll need to succeed:
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, organized, goal-oriented, and a strong collaborator. It is important to have strong computer and technical skills, with an aptitude for learning. You will be a master problem solver with fine attention to detail. Superb communication and listening skills are a must to be successful.
Ability to navigate difficult conversations with confidence, including vendor, customer, and sales escalations.
Final-mile transportation/supplier experience.
Experience managing delivery schedules and setting expectations with business stakeholders.
Experience reporting out on delivery metrics and KPIs.
Experience managing courier performance, including holding vendors accountable.
Experience auditing routes and creating efficient courier route sequencing.

Minimum of intermediate skill level with Excel required, including pivot tables and the ability to solve problems and tell stories using data.
Experience identifying cost savings and contributing to efficiency improvements.
You have outstanding and demonstrable verbal & written communication skills.
You are disciplined, proactive, coachable, and demonstrate a growth mindset, with the ability to work independently.
A High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A 2- or 4-year degree is preferred.
