Job Description Summary:

Responsible for the ordering, tracking and maintenance of surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies for Sterile Processing and Surgery Departments. Responsible for continuous maintenance of equipment contents, nomenclature and storage locations in the EMR program and instrument tracking system. They complete purchase requisitions for appropriate surgical instrumentation by proactively collaborating with Surgeons, OR staff, vendors, and SPD staff thus improving the relationship between Sterile Processing and the OR, and increasing customer satisfaction. Also responsible for initiating workflow improvements to improve productivity.

Responsibilities And Duties:

•            Responsible for the ordering, tracking and maintenance of surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies for Sterile Processing and Surgery Departments.
•            Uses a fiscally responsible approach to order and replenish SPD related supplies based upon PAR levels.
•            Collaborates with vendor sales representatives and manufacturers regularly to accurately purchase and/or acquire loaner instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
•            Manages, monitors, authorizes and directs equipment and instrument repairs to the appropriate vendor.
•            Works collaboratively with Operating Room staff & SPD staff to ensure needs are met efficiently and accurately.
•            Functions as an administrator for instrument tracking system.
•            Functions as an administrator for the SPD related portions of the EMR program.
•            Maintains documentation, statistics and data for instruments and equipment.
•            Communicates changes and assists in staff education regarding instrumentation and equipment.
•            Implements workflow initiatives to improve departmental productivity.
•            Fills in as a SPD tech as needed or requested

Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required)CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management

Additional Job Description:

Must exhibit exceptionally strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate ability to work well with others as part of a team

Extensive experience with multiple computer programs particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Access

Experience with implementing work flow initiatives to improve productivity
