What your typical day will look like:

In this role, you will serve as the primary Legal Counsel supporting the Malaysia business, providing strategic and practical legal guidance across commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters. You will work closely with client-facing teams and central business functions (HR, Finance & IT) to ensure contracts are structured effectively, risks are managed appropriately, and legal compliance is maintained.
 

Your day-to-day work will focus heavily on commercial contracting, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with clients, media partners, and technology vendors. As the sole counsel based in Malaysia, you will operate with a high level of ownership while collaborating closely with regional legal colleagues across SEA.

Core responsibilities include:

• Provide strategic legal advice across commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters to support business objectives while managing legal risk.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including client contracts, media vendor agreements, ad tech arrangements, and data/IP licensing.
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders (client teams, HR, Finance, IT) to ensure legal compliance and effective risk management across business activities.
• Support data privacy compliance, corporate governance matters, and collaborate with Ethics & Compliance teams where required.
• Manage disputes, litigation matters, and external counsel engagements while driving continuous improvement in legal processes.

A bit about you:

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Malaysia, with approximately 6+ years PQE and relevant in-house legal experience preferred.
• Strong commercial contracting experience with the ability to draft, negotiate, and provide practical legal solutions.
• Experience or exposure within media, advertising, technology, or IT-related industries is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to business stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented, commercially minded, and able to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
