Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Government Relations and Funding Manager
Redwood Materials is seeking a Government Relations and Funding Manager to support existing and future funding opportunities and the broader external affairs team. This role will have an important impact on Redwood Materials' business objectives and sustainability goals by identifying and managing complex grant proposals and compliance documents cross-functionally across Redwood and with external partners. The successful candidate will be extremely organized with strong attention to detail and excellent technical writing skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and researching federal, state and local funding sources to benefit Redwood or our partners;
- Drafting proposals and leading submission processes, including tracking deadlines and program requirements, coordination across multiple teams, and managing complex submissions;
- Serving as external lead for various funding projects and collaborating internally to ensure all stakeholders are aligned and projects remain on track;
- Overseeing and ensuring compliance, registrations and reporting requirements for existing grants and other programs, including the creation of new internal processes or reporting mechanisms, as required;
- Creatively seeking ways to enhance Redwood's consumer program, including assistance with proposals, performing outreach, and liaising with government, municipal and private sector partners to grow the program.
- Contributing as a key member of Redwood’s external affairs team as needed, spanning Redwood’s consumer recycling program, policy and government relations, and marketing and communications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPA, MBA) is preferred.
- 6+ years in a related field.
- Experience with grant writing, grant management, compliance processes or within government.
- Ability to identify, comprehend and effectively communicate key technical aspects of corporate operations.
- Proven ability to effectively interact at the highest corporate, regulatory agency, and government levels (local, state, and/or federal).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex processes and projects clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to work independently while effectively contributing as part of a team
- Attention to detail and meticulous organization.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think outside the box.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Ability to travel domestically occasionally, as required.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
