What you'll do:

The Underwriting Manager will be responsible for managing and leading a team of underwriters to achieve the company’s production and quality goals. The ideal candidate must possess a hands-on working style with in-depth knowledge of loan processes, with understanding the complexity of various types of mortgage documents and investor requirements. In addition, the candidate must have strong organizational and accuracy skills, with the ability to manage the day-to-day hands-on support as a manager, prioritizing of assignments, and the ability to work with a large team of staff members.

•  Ensure team members are fully trained and current on company’s philosophy and policies/procedures
•  Manage and review day-to-day tasks escalated by team
•  Conducts underwriting review process in a manner designed to minimize the company's risk while employing problem resolution techniques in approving loans
•  Responsible for the training, coaching and supervision of all underwriters within the associated interpretation and application of all company overlays and agency requirements
•  Evaluate the structure of the Underwriting team and plan for continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
•  Provide a consistent approach to new hire training of underwriters and peer managers
•  Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other departments
•  Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to have:

• Current advanced knowledge of industry-specific underwriting guidelines and agency requirements

• Recent FHA underwriting management experience required

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Demonstrated knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, and Jumbo guidelines
•  Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a mortgage underwriting role
•  Experience underwriting FHA, VA, and USDA loans.  DE and SAR designation preferred
•  Experience managing a team of mortgage underwriters is required
•  Experience using Encompass loan origination system is required
•  Good verbal and written communication skills
•  Ability to provide outstanding customer service in fast-paced environments
•  Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications i.e. Word and Excel
•  Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments and investor agencies as required

Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $121,870.00 - $143,377.50 for Westlake Village, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $121,870.00 - $143,377.50 for Irvine, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location.
