POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Accounting Officer ensures the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of financial data within the systems by demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the Bank's policies and procedures. This person is responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of transactions and changes to accounts receivable by reviewing and analyzing transactions while ensuring compliance with the Bank's policies and procedures. This person is also responsible for the preparation of financial analysis and reports.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Promptly resolve all difficult transactions brought to his or her attention by contacting field staff to recommend action to be taken, initiating corrective actions pertaining to customer accounts monitoring and following-up on such recommendations
Evaluate all adjustment situations that will affect customer statements, analyze and resolve any inconsistencies in line with policies and procedures, and make recommendations as required
Ensure that all payments are properly applied against customer files, reconcile the bank account, supervise, and authorize all disbursements of funds and evaluate their conformity with BDC policies and procedures while also ensuring their timely processing
Ensure timely processing of accounts receivables for Advisory Services operations by sending appropriate letters and documentation of customer comments up to and including the closing of the files
Develop, maintain, and supervise a hotline service to branches by making recommendations and suggestions to them in servicing the needs of their customers in the most courteous way and provide ongoing training and coaching to field staff
Document processes and procedures and make recommendations for their improvement.
Participate in the preparation of timely, accurate, and reliable financial reports
Ensure that all requests for financial information on BDC Advisory Services activities from the shareholder, government agencies, media, internal departments and other stakeholders are responded in a timely manner within deadlines
Participate, or assist with special projects
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
College diploma in accounting or administration, 2 to 5 years’ experience in accounting
Very good knowledge of accounting practices and principles (IFRS)
Experience in account reconciliation and bookkeeping (Sales, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, etc.) using accounting software (PeopleSoft an asset)
Very good knowledge of MS Excel
Ability to maintain excellent communication and interact quickly with customers (external and internal at all levels) and provide high quality service
Detail oriented and a good team player
Ability to work independently, good organization and ability to meet deadlines
Bilingual (English and French, oral, and written)
