Basic Function:

Under the direction of management, in line with established policies and procedures, this position coordinates and reinforces the efforts of business banking, by managing the due diligence and documentation related to government program lending.

Focus on government program loans received from the Retail Bank channel. Responsible for determining required documentation to meet all government program requirements and perfect a loan guaranty on lines of credit and term loan requests up to $250,000. Service loans in the Banks portfolio including modifications, reporting, and accounting functions as well as process purchase claim submissions to the SBA, on an as needed basis.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Accumulates, prepares, organizes, executes and submits SBA and other government program loan packages. Functions as the liaison with clients, business partners, service center personnel and centralized departments to ensure clients receive prompt accurate service.
  • Works directly with customers and Branch Managers/Relationship Managers. Provides excellent customer service by answering questions pertaining to loan request and servicing.
  • Functions as liaison with sales teams or service center personnel and centralized departments to ensure that clients receive prompt and accurate service.
  • Reviews loan documentation for regulatory compliance and approves initial draft.
  • Coordinates efforts to process loans in conjunction with government program guidelines.
  • Prepares documentation requests and assesses eligibility of program. May issue approval under Banks delegated authority.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on government program portfolio.
  • Review program and closing documentation including insurance, disbursements, and closing documentation.
  • Perform accounting functions related to government programs including providing wire instructions, cashier checks, and GL account transactions.
  • Processes servicing actions including changes to loans under Banks delegated authority.
  • Prepare government guarantee purchase requests.
  • Follows the government programs Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as well as internal procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other assignments/projects as requested by management.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Associates degree and minimum of 1-year previous SBA loan products and documentation experience required, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Bachelor’s degree
