Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to coordinate and direct all compliance functions within the Department of Diagnostic of Imaging to include Joint Commission, State and Federal agencies. Monitors and reporting of Patient Safety and Quality activities. Oversee radiation badges. Organizing continuing education for the department. Review coding and billing codes, dictated radiology reports, technologist charging and documentation in EPIC in areas for non-compliance. Monitor educational professional requirements. Assist with revenue cycle activities. Always follows Corewell Health’s philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Essential Functions

  • Compliance: Ensure radiology departments compliance with regulatory agencies standards (i.e. JCAHO, NRC and OSHA). Develop and submit departments compliance plan and bi-annual reports, maintain records and monitors adherence to educational, professional and health requirements.
  • Revenue Cycle: Conduct routine audits relating to billing, medical records etc. Writes SR tickets, test OneChart modifications and work OneChart work queues.
  • Radiation Safety: Maintains the departments QA Program. Update Policies and maintain department website. Ensure QA of lead apparel including inspections, repairs and ordering.
  • Monitors all mandatory learning. Organize continuing education for the department. Obtaining CE credit approval from accrediting agency. Develop department specific Health Stream modules.
  • Record Management: maintain department policies and procedures; staff licensures; CPR.
  • Demonstrates leadership and conflict resolution abilities through effective problem solving.
  • Effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation with medical staff, management, technical and support staff.
  • Knowledge with computers for charging/viewing schedules and PAC’S for sending information both accurately and efficiently. Training staff in all areas related to EPIC documentation.
  • Ensures adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including safety standard to minimize radiation exposure to patients and employees.
  • Liaison between imaging and MISD coders/service of excellence/Imaging IT gatekeeper.
  • Process owner of QRS.
  • Completes department audits, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually; maintaining department statistics and active participate in department and hospital sub-committees.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ radiology/clinical experience and/or 5 years’ experience preferably in a more advanced operational role within the Imaging department.
  • Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
  • Experience in the management of Imaging records/processes or a more advanced operational role within the Imaging department
  • CRT - Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire or CRT - Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross
  • Able to work a weekend rotation to support down times (about 6-8 times per week)
