ADI is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Global Trade Compliance team as a Classification Specialist. The Classification Specialist will support daily classification globally and other trade related  activities to achieve targeted results in a fast paced and challenging environment. This role reports to the Customs & Enterprise Systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Properly classify goods/parts within database system across multiple divisions using Harmonized Traffic Schedule (HTS) codes.
  • Research products to collect the information necessary to determine the correct tariff classification.
  • Work with other ADI departments, Suppliers, etc., to gather additional information, as needed.
  • Record a thorough and reasoned classification determination in internal database.
  • Accurately research all products being imported into the US and classify timely to ensure the correct duties are paid to US Customs upon arrival.
  • Partner with vendors to obtain additional required product information for classification purposes.
  • Assign tariff classifications for ad-hoc requests as well as maintain non-finish goods internal database.
  • Build classification library for entries and auditing purposes.
  • Assist with GTS systems tariff classification maintenance and updates.
  • Support internal non-revenue shipment reviews and conduct periodic audits.
  • Operate in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Support Global Trade Compliance team for tariff classifications.
  • Work on other Global Trade related tasks as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-4 years’ experience in the import/export compliance
  • At least three years of experience classifying merchandise under the HTUS.
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Windows.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to respond effectively and efficiently to time-critical issues with competing / conflicting priorities.
  • Detailed and task-oriented self-starter who can develop effective networks with internal and external customers.
  • Team player willing to learn and adapt to the company’s business needs.
