About the role
This role is part of the Growth and Communication team at our company and you will be a key member of the team, leading communications for an important market for us and report to the Sr. PR Manager. As a team, you will ensure we are strategically positioned in Japanese media, ensuring our key narratives, messages and spokespersons are positively placed in key media outlets. You will partner with key stakeholders in our company to ensure Japan’s PR strategy complements business objectives. You will have the autonomy to work independently, but at the same time, you are expected to collaborate effectively with the team, offering support whenever called upon. You must be bilingual in English and Japanese in this role as you’ll be working with the HQ team in Taipei, Taiwan as well as the regional team around Asia. Ideally, you have worked in a public company before, and enjoy working in a startup environment.
What you’ll do
- Develop, implement, and coordinate the Company general communications plans efficiently and smoothly.
- Arranging financial announcements, press materials /PPTs, individual media interviews, company-wide meetings, and distributing the Company messages, such as case studies, new product updates, and spokesperson messages, etc.
- Coordinate PR communications in consultation with respective key stakeholders, business partners and internal global business leaders to increase group brand awareness in the Japanese market.
- Work closely with internal/external counterparts to create compelling contents and press releases with well-defined and consistent messages and develop fact-based stories for mass media releases.
- Use and run owned media (corporate website, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), develop content.
- Formulate a holistic and strategic communication framework that is aligned with the Company’s overarching global strategy.
- Help to propose and/or collaborate with other teams to implement creative PR campaigns and secure relevant media channels and coverage beyond our products and services, including but not limited to ESG and Branding.
- Help to identify opportunities for media placements, executive interviews, PR events and partnerships with the overall aim of growing brand awareness among target audiences.
Required skills and experience:
- 3 - 4+ years' relevant working experience in public relations, corporate branding and communications including in-house and agency side.
- Proven communicator with exceptional written and verbal ability in Japanese, complemented by functional English communication skills at the business level (which means the candidates need to have strong skills in Japanese while their English skills do not need to be the same level of proficiency.)
- Great communicators who can understand complex issues and have the ability to explain them in person, in writing and in other media formats (videos, SNS posts, etc.) in Japanese at a native level.
- Solid experience dealing with media requests, both mainstream as well as trade/analyst.
- Relationships with and understanding of key online, social, offline and broadcast media.
- Excellent team skills to work across different functional teams based in Japan

- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Ability to quickly learn complex research, technology, and business structures.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism or other related areas or equivalent work experiences. Experience as a journalist, or in a public relations/public affairs agency, government agency, or related area also advantageous.
Desired skills and experiences:
- Experience working in Global SaaS and IT technology sectors with an understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
- Track record of creative storytelling, crafting of corporate communication materials (press releases, Q&A documents, blogs), development and maintenance of corporate web sites (HubSpot) and social media channels.
- Experience in proactive press outreach, and building relationships with journalists to produce articles.
- Build relationships with key media and influencers – understand their needs and how to develop and pitch valuable content that addresses market trends and topics.
