The Senior Trainer, Leader Training & Development is responsible for designing, facilitating, and evaluating advanced capability-building programs for MCBL Area Managers (Leaders) and Financial Sales Associates (FSAs) after BEST Onboarding.
This role specifically addresses the critical capability gap for FSAs progressing to Levels 3 and 4, focusing on sales mastery, advisory readiness, and investment competence. The Senior Trainer is expected to lead and deliver Investments 101, 102, 103, and 104, and design structured capability pathways aligned with regulatory, product, and advisory standards.
The role demands expert facilitation, advanced curriculum development, collaboration with senior stakeholders, and ownership of training strategy execution for post-onboarding field capability.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Lead Post-BEST Leadership & FSA Development Programs
Serve as primary trainer for post-BEST capability-building for:
Area Managers – coaching, leadership readiness, performance monitoring, and advisor development
FSAs (Level 3 & 4) – deepening product mastery, investment literacy, and advisory skills
Enhance and execute the Advanced FSA Training Roadmap, ensuring alignment with regulatory and business needs.
Deliver high-quality sessions using advanced facilitation techniques for adult learning.
2. Investments Training Expertise (101–104)
Act as subject matter expert and lead trainer for Investments 101 to 104, covering:
Fundamentals of investing
Risk profiling and suitability
Portfolio construction
Market movements and advisory conversations
Ensure training content meets compliance requirements and MCBL advisory frameworks.
Continuously update modules to reflect market updates, industry trends, and Manulife investment strategies.
3. Curriculum Design, Enhancement & Innovation
Develop and refine training modules, digital materials, assessments, and learning paths for Leaders and FSAs.
Identify performance gaps across teams and recommend training solutions based on data and field insights.
Drive improvements in training methodologies, incorporating blended learning, workshops, coaching sessions, and simulations.
4. Field Coaching & Stakeholder Partnership
Partner closely with Area Managers, Sales Leaders, Agency Heads, Compliance, and Product Teams.
Conduct field coaching, observing advisor–customer conversations and providing actionable development feedback.
Act as a strategic learning partner to help leaders build their team’s sales, advisory, and compliance capabilities.
5. Training Data, Evaluation & Impact Tracking
Track training attendance, competency progression, and learning outcomes for FSAs and Leaders.
Provide insights and performance reports to RDE, Sales, and Leadership teams.
Evaluate training effectiveness using post-session assessments, evaluations, and capability scorecards.
6. Engagement & Cultural Development Support
Support RDE’s engagement calendar by hosting sessions, facilitating Leader forums, and contributing to culture initiatives.
Help reinforce behaviors that strengthen MCBL’s values, sales leadership culture, and advisor readiness.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required (Business, Finance, Education, or related fields preferred).
At least 5 years of experience in insurance training, advisory training, or financial services capability development.
Registered Financial Planner (RFP) or equivalent certification required/preferred (e.g., AFP, CWP, CFA Level 1).
Preferred Qualifications:
Deep understanding of investment principles, financial planning, and life insurance distribution.
Experience handling leadership development or advisor upskilling programs is a strong advantage.
Must possess excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong expertise in life insurance, investment-linked products, and advisory practices.
Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills for leadership and advisor audiences.
Proficient in curriculum design, adult learning principles, and digital/virtual training.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Operates independently and leads high-impact training initiatives.
Influences senior stakeholders and collaborates across cross-functional teams.
Demonstrates advanced problem‑solving, adaptability, and resilience.
Shows strategic thinking and strong ownership of training outcomes.
