About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM)  is the professional,  clinical and operational leader in our Chemotherapy Day Unit, which also includes the Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC), Cancer Care at Home (CC@H) and Apheresis Units,  and plays a pivotal role in leading and inspiring all nurses in the Chemotherapy Day Unit team to maintain and promote the professional standards of Nursing Practice within the unit. 

The NUM will be responsible for ensuring that the nursing values and specialised practice standards, safety standards and operational resources of the CDU (and sub units) are in place to promote safe patient care.  The NUM will directly report to the Operations Manager of Cancer Services. 

-providing clinical leadership and operational direction for the unit to ensure safe and timely care for our patients

-providing leadership, guidance and mentoring for nursing team

-effective management of human, financial and material resources


Classifications for this position will range from NM11 - NM12 ($126,074 - $130,509.60 per annum)

Your Contribution
• Degree in Nursing which meets AHPRA registration requirements
•    Current condition free AHPRA registration
•    Post-graduate qualification in Cancer Nursing
•    Completed (and current competency) ADAC course

•    Previous experience as an Assoicate Nurse Unit, or  Nurse Unit Manager in a clinical unit, ward or department
•    Experience in the leadership of a multidisciplinary team
•    Experience in budget planning, preparation and management
• Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About the Cancer Services Department 

St Vincent’s Cancer Services is committed to providing exceptional care to patients and their families, with kindness and compassion.  The Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) is funded for 15 chairs, in addition to the Apheresis Unit, Cancer Care at Home Program (CC@H) and Symptom Urgent Review Clinic (SURC) all sitting within our CDU. Working closely with Oncology and  Haematology Units in partnership with multidisclipinary and support team of clinicans strive to provide the highest level of evidence based care to our patients.
