SUMMARY

The Yard Switcher safely executes and documents the movement of inbound, outbound and storage trailers within the facility grounds in support of Distribution Center (DC) Shipping and Receiving. This position maintains the work area by patrolling for litter in the yard and keeping the truck clean and presentable. Switchers perform approximately 50 - 70 trailer moves per regularly scheduled shift.

JOB DUTIES

• Use switch truck to move trailers within the facility grounds under the direction of shipping and receiving.

• Enter equipment movement detail in Yard Management database.

• Perform non-standard equipment moves as requested and or directed by the DC management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Stand or walk on concrete for 8-12 hours per day
• Climb flights of metal stairs and/or metal ladders
• Hand-eye coordination for operating equipment
• Sit, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull and twist
• Lift and move 65 lbs. unassisted and 75 lbs. assisted

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience Minimum: 0-2 years in warehouse experience and/or some truck driving experience.

Experience Preferred: 3-5 years of driving with 2 of those being in a yard hostler position.
