STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION
The FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) eTrading Technology Team is dedicated to delivering innovative, high-performance technology solutions that enable efficient, secure, and scalable electronic trading across global fixed income, currency, and commodity markets. The team partners closely with trading, sales, and risk management functions to develop and support electronic trading platforms, pricing engines, and market connectivity solutions. By leveraging advanced technologies and deep market expertise, the FICC eTrading Technology Team drives business growth, enhances client experience, and ensures the bank remains at the forefront of electronic trading innovation.
JOB PURPOSE
The E-FX Lead Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance electronic foreign exchange (E-FX) trading systems. This role combines deep technical expertise in Java with a solid understanding of FX markets to deliver reliable, scalable, and low-latency solutions that support the bank’s trading and risk management objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, business analysts, and technology teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance trading capabilities, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive business growth.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical direction and mentorship to the development team, ensuring best practices in software design, coding standards, and architectural decisions.
Solution Delivery:
Oversee the end-to-end delivery of robust, scalable, and low-latency eTrading solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with traders, business analysts, product owners, and other technology teams to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
Code Quality & Review:
Drive a culture of code excellence through regular code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration, ensuring maintainability and reliability.Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Risk & Compliance:
Ensure all solutions comply with internal risk management policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
Incident Management & Support:
Lead the resolution of high-impact production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
Project Planning:
Contribute to project planning, estimation, and resource allocation to ensure timely and successful delivery of initiatives.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Trading Desk:
Collaborate closely with traders to understand business requirements, trading strategies, and operational needs.
Product Management:
Partner with product managers to prioritize features, align technology solutions with business goals, and deliver value to clients.
Business Analysts:
Work with business analysts to clarify requirements, assess feasibility, and translate business needs into technical specifications.
Risk & Compliance Teams:
Coordinate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure all solutions adhere to internal policies and regulatory standards.
Quality Assurance (QA):
Engage with QA teams to develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Infrastructure & DevOps:
Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to optimize deployment pipelines, automate processes, and ensure system scalability and resilience.
Support & Operations:
Work with production support and operations teams to manage incident resolution, monitor system health, and implement improvements.
Other Technology Teams:
Partner with other technology groups (e.g., data, security, client connectivity) to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
