Job Description:

This position is responsible and accountable for 24-hour day-to-day leadership and operations of echo/vascular services, including leadership and oversight of clinical quality, financial performance, and staff within the department. These services are inclusive of inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as outreach locations when applicable. Additionally, this position will help in performing a variety of diagnostic cardiac/vascular exams under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for development, implementation and management of annual capital/operating and personnel (FTE) budget for Echo/Vascular department. Uses resources effectively and manages expenses to meet financial goals of department(s).

  • Contribute to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations, standards of care or service, and attainment of organizational goals

  • Responsible for unit or department performance and compliance with patient safety initiatives, federal, state and other regulatory bodies such as Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, DOPL, and other department specific accrediting and certifying bodies. Ensure achievement of clinical program/service line goals (as appropriate) and implement action plans to improve performance as needed.

  • Educate caregivers on new and complex procedures.

  • Drive caregiver and patient experience through innovative interventions derived through survey data and feedback

  • Act as a role model for caregivers. Ensure that staff incorporate evidence-based practice or best practice standards into all aspects of care and service delivery.

  • Ensure patient care is provided in a safe, timely, and high-quality manner within the department.

  • Communicate information from company, facility, and department to staff. Plan and conduct department staff meetings.

  • Partner with coding and compliance to ensure department is utilizing best practices for coding and billing.

  • Participate in educational opportunities to ensure clinical competence, develop additional skills and knowledge, and improve leadership abilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac sonography -OR- ARDMS or CCI certification in vascular sonography and successfully completed one vascular or echo registry (adult, pediatric, fetal) pertinent to the dept (beyond physics).

  • Demonstrated expertise in leadership, mentoring ability, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business or healthcare related field.

  • Five years of ultrasound experience

  • Experience leading customer relations, finance, and productivity management, continuous quality improvement, personnel staffing and development, and directing or leading activities in the department to ensure that patients receive highest value patient care.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$44.33 - $68.42
