Job Summary

This position supports the improvement of currently deployed automated sorters and robotics initiatives across the UPS network. The role requires strong analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple UPS functions and external vendors. The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in MySQL, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Work Location: 12424 DIXIE ROAD CALEDON, ON L7C 2L7 Canada

Workdays: Monday to Friday

Shift Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM (approximate – can vary)

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering & Technical Support
  • Support the design, construction, and maintenance of package handling equipment and UPS facilities across Canada.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to improve automated equipment performance.
  • Facilitate remote testing processes for automated sorters.
  • Conduct routine technical surveys, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with project cost estimation and supervision.
  • Project & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain weekly automated sorter performance reports.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare reports, bid documents, and contracts.
  • Support project management activities.
  • Operational Support
  • Manage inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Create, update, and maintain engineering resource documentation.

Qualifications

Rising Junior or Senior student, or recent graduate (within the last 24 months) with a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Architectural Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Civil, Environmental and Geological Engineering
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering
  • Information Technology Or related field
  • Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Basic MySQL knowledge
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and systems analysis abilities
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation varies based on experience: $21.08 - $30.72

Additional Information
The location is accessible by public transit and by car. A large employee parking lot is available on the south side of the building.

The intern will also be assigned tasks beyond the above task and will help their direct supervisor with day-to-day activities.
