What you'll get to do

As a Principal/Sr. Principal Test Engineer within the TER team, you'll be responsible for ushering a test plan through test execution and reporting via a set of QBDs. QBDs are a set of predetermined tasks associated with earned value and the IMS. You'll achieve the aforementioned through first-hand experience, leveraging SME experience, referencing NG PrOP, and/or pathfinding. As a Principal/Sr. Principal Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure the aforementioned is supported.

Specific roles and responsibilities will include

  • Daily use of JIRA, a project management tool that helps the team plan, track, and manage work. 
  • Identify and facilitate the resources needed to successfully execute assigned test plans
  • Develop/release test aids using CAD and PLM software
  • Collaborate with GSC to procure COTS and/or Non-SUT material
  • Develop SoW(s) and usher through approval process
  • Will/may be responsible for helping to develop and facilitate IWOs to support our test needs
  • Collaborate with test provider stakeholders to develop a detailed test schedule
  • Prepare for and support TRRs
  • As test execution director, ensure all QBDs are adhered to for a successful test event
  • Oversee the completion of technical reports and test results in addition to ensuring that all required documentation is properly stored via NG's TDMS
  • Frequent collaboration with external IPTs
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, including critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills
  • Technical Writing for test execution products
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, documents to leadership
  • Other TER tasks as required by supervisor

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

Job Qualifications

You’ll bring these Qualifications:

Principal Engineer Test: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience

Sr Principal Engineer Test: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 8 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 4 years of experience

Required for both levels

- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years

- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by NG to meet its business needs

- Experience with test planning, test execution and test data management

- Experience or knowledge of system integration and test principles dealing with requirements and test planning/procedures

- Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, and Engineering scheduling tools/applications

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software (i.e. CAMEO, DOORS, etc.) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) Tools (i.e. NX, SolidWorks, etc.)

- Experience working in an agile team

- Basic understanding of data acquisition systems

- Test set calibration/validation and test script development experience

- Demonstrated experience operating in a large integration and test environment

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Experience with Teamcenter

- Previous MMIII experience

- Experience with Engineering technical writing

- Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, power, hand and measuring tools

- Aerospace / ICBM maintenance experience

- Knowledge in the mechanical and/or electrical development of support equipment design solutions

Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00Salary Range 2: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
